Finding the Forest 森を見つける

Following the "Soaring Voices," there is another great exhibition happening at the MACC (Maui Arts & Cultural Center), and it is called "Finding the Forest." This will be available to view until March 30th. Please check it out.

「ソアリング・ボイス」の展示に引き続き、MACC（マウイアーツ＆カルチュラルセンター）はまた素晴らしい展示を催してくれています。今回は「ファインディング　ザ　フォレスト　森を見つける」というものです。これは3月30日まで開催されています。是非足を運んでみてください。

I was given permission to take photographs, so I did.

This was my favorite.

This one seemed to have been put together using old "trash."

A machine engulfing logs one after another to crete toothpicks, symbolizing humans' tendency to create so much waste.

写真を撮ってもいいということだったので、いくつか撮りました。

これは私が一番気に入ったもの。

色々なガラクタを組み合わせて作られているみたい。

大きな機械が木を次々に飲み込んでいき、爪楊枝を作っている様子。

爪楊枝は私たち人間の浪費を象徴しているそう。

Forests are alive.

森は生きている。

There was this participatory art. An artist drew the outlines, and people were welcomed to color in. I colored in a bit, too. I enjoyed this idea of visitors taking a part in the exhibition. It also reminded me of what a great healing effect simple coloring has.

これは参加型のアート。あるアーティストがアウトラインを描いてくれていて、この展示を観に来た人たちが自由に色を塗っていいよというもの。私も少し塗ってきました。この来られた人たちにも参加してもらうという斬新なアイディア、いいなと思いました。それから塗り絵というシンプルなアクティビティがどれだけヒーリング効果を持っているのかを思い出させてくれました。
