I received a report card from one of my students.
In my classroom, each student has a mailbox where they put notes from school or their completed worksheets, and they check their mailbox before they go home. I have one, too, and I have told them that they can put any letters or pictures, and I would respond. This report card was in my mailbox.
I thought, "Th.. th.. thank you!! I'm honored. I'll continue to work on improving myself as a teacher for sake of you, children!"
ある教え子が通知表をくれました。
「あかり先生へ 今学期、あなたはとても良い先生でした。ラブ」
私の教室には、子ども達一人一人に郵便受けがあって（そんな大した箱ではありませんが）、そこに家に持って帰る学校からのプリント類やテストやワークシートを入れて、毎日家に帰る前にチェックするシステムになっています。そこに私用の箱もあり、何か私に渡したいものがあるときは入れていいよと言っておいたのです。そこに入っていました。
開けて思ったのは、「あ・・・ありがとうございます！！そう言って頂いて光栄です。これからあなた方のためにさらに精進して参ります。」でした。

Yes, go for it!
It's hard for kids in Hawaii to think about seasons, though. And with strange climate change and what not, this child's answer could be the best answer after all :)
これはある教え子の算数の答え。
（日本語訳） 「どれが確実に起こるか？一番適切な答えを丸しなさい。」（確率の問題）
A. 宇宙船が学校に着陸する。
B. 大好きなスポーツチームがいつも勝つ。
C. 春は冬の後にやってくる。
D. ムービースターになる。
この子はDを選びました。（まぁハワイで生まれ暮らしている子ども達にとって季節感に関する問題は難しいですな。）
先生はその日を楽しみにしているよ！

Last week, I dropped the top part of a blender, and it shuttered into pieces. The first thing came to my mind was, "Got protect my feet for dancing!!" I'm sure everyone thinks to protect their feet if they didn't have shoes on, but there was this specific agenda behind my erge to protect them. It was a funny realization - how much of weight dance has in my life. Then I thought, "Thank goodness, I don't have a crawling baby in my house." I guess this came to me because I work with kids. Lastly, I thought, "Can I just buy the top part of a blender? I don't wanna throw away the bottom part that works." I don't like to let many things end up in the landfills. Breaking glass gave me some psychological insights :) so go ahead and break one (I'm just kidding). I guess intentional act won't give us insights.
The photo below is a blender one of my kind colleagues gave me (she said that this was sitting in her house) as soon as she heard that I broke mine. Wow. What a great community of people I am surrounded by. I told her that I would buy the glass anyway, so that the bottom part won't end up being a trash, and she can give this complete set to someone who needs a blender.
先週、ブレンダーのガラスの部分を落として割ってしまいました。一番最初に思ったことは、「足を守らなくちゃ！」でした。踊りのために。きっとガラスを割ったときは誰もが思うことだと思いますが、そこに「踊りのために！」がはっきりとついていました。踊りが私の今の人生の中にどれだけ重みを持っているのかを、垣間見た瞬間でした。次に思ったのが「この家に小さい子どもがいなくてよかった！」これは普段子どもと働いているから思ったのでしょう。その次が「さぁ、ガラスの部分だけ買えるかな？下の部分は壊れていないのだから、このまま捨ててしまうのは本当にもったいない。」でした。なるべくゴミを少なく少なくしようといつもしているので思ったのでしょう。ガラスを割ると潜在意識で思っていることが浮かびあがって面白いかも。皆さんも割ってみてください（って冗談ですが）。故意に割ったのではダメでしょう。
上の写真にあるブレンダーは、私がブレンダーを割ったと聞いて、ある心優しい同僚が家に余っていたらしいブレンダーをくれました。何てすてきな仲間に囲まれて私は暮らしているのでしょう！でも割ったガラス部分を買うことにしました。そうしないと下の部分がゴミになってしまうので。この彼女の余っているブレンダーは、その注文したパーツが来たら必要な人にもらってもらいましょう。
My dear 2nd graders openly share their germs by unawarely picking their noses, sneezing into my face (bless you), and putting their cute fingers in their mouths and touching everything if I don't catch them fast enough. This past week, two went home with stomachache. Two have been coughing all week. One has a colored runny nose. We, teachers, are on the frontline in the midst of all of these :) I was under the weather yesterday, and I slept 10 hrs last night and felt much better this morning, but I'll take it easy today. Everyone, I hope you are well. The photo above is a delicious dish Sarala made and kindly shared with me :)
私のかわいい2年生の児童たちはとても寛容にばい菌たちをシェアしてくれます（笑）。2年生だと言ってもまだ小さいですね。くしゃみするときなんて口を覆うのに間に合わずに私の顔にしてきたり（たまたま私の顔がそこにあったのだけど）、無意識に鼻をほじったり、かわいい指や鉛筆を口に入れたりします。それらを私が見かけて「手を洗ってきなさい」と言わない限り、そのまま教室にある色々なものを触っちゃいます。先週は二人の子が腹痛で家に帰り、ある子は一週間ずっと咳をしていて、ある子は色のついた鼻水を流していて・・・。先生たちというのは、（特に幼稚園や小学校低学年の先生たち）風邪やインフルエンザの前線で仕事をしているようなものだと思います。昨日はちょっと体調が悪くなり、喉が痛いのとだるい感じで夜は早く就寝し10時間寝ました。今朝はましになっていましたが、大事をとって今週末は家でおとなしくしていようと思います。皆さんは元気でしょうか。上の写真は二階に住むサララが作ってくれたおいしい一品。

かまきりが卵を産んでいるところを、同僚の先生が見つけました。
この登場人物たちでどんなお話が繰り広げられているのか気になるところ。（サイラスが彼の世界で一人多役をしながら遊んでいるところ。彼が命名したサンタモンキーと、彼の作った雪だるまと、私の折った鶴たちと。）
