これらをある持ち寄りパーティーのために作りました。

（とっても簡単なのでね。）

Nature is indeed, always beautiful.

自然はいつも本当に美しい。

No make-up (though I only wear make-up when I perform). 

No anything. Just me with my acne scared face and my small friend. 

I love it. 

Nausicaa was and still is my heroin I've admired since I was a little girl. I always wanted to be like her - loving and courageous at the same time. I think my love for insects partially come from her. 

 メイクなし。（って普段も全然メイクしないけど。踊るときだけします。）

何もなし。素の私とニキビ跡の顔と小さなお友達。イエイ。

昔も今も小さい頃からの私の憧れのヒロインと言えばナウシカ。彼女のようになりたかったのを覚えている。勇敢でありつつも優しさに溢れていて。私の昆虫好きは彼女の影響もあったことでしょう。 

There is beauty even at the end of life.

Well, I actually believe that there is this special glow that all living things emanate at two distinctive times in a life - the birth and death.

生の終わりにさえ美しさは宿る。

人生の二つの節目で、生き物は特別な輝きを放つと思う。

生まれてくるときと、死んでいくとき。

This is vegetarian sushi created by Succie. I met him and his wife Kaori in Seattle, WA a couple of years ago, and they were visiting Maui. Doesn't this look like a piece of art? Doesn't this look so delicious? Don't you want to eat it? He made it with whatever he could get here on Maui. They are hoping and planning to move to Maui. I am hoping that their dream would come true in the near future for them and for me to eat this again!

これはシアトルで知り合い、マウイに1週間ほど滞在していた香織さん旦那さんである、すっしーが作ってくれたベジタリアンのお寿司！！すごいでしょう。おいしそうでしょう。食べたいでしょう？マウイで手に入るもので作ってくれました。このお二人と子どもさん達がマウイ移住計画を練っているところ。どうにかそれが近い将来実現しますように！彼らの夢が叶うという意味でも、これをマウイでまた食べられるようになるためにも（笑）。

芸が細かい！

Speaking of eating, this tree that stands in my neighborhood always makes me wonder if a giant man had a bite of it.

食べると言えば、この近所にある木なんですけど、いつも見る度に「誰か大きな人か怪獣が一口食べたのかな？」と思う。

Speaking of nature, "Want Chickens?" This is a school newsletter of a school where I teach.
"If you want chickens, please feel free to come on by and catch them!" 

I love it. Is this only in Hawaii? But if you come during the school hours, please sign in at the office first. You can say, "I'm a chicken wrangler." 

Some older kids are actually good at catching them. I feel good to be teaching at a place where kids know how to garden, catch chickens (not everyone, though), fish, and climb palm trees to get coconuts.

自然と言えば、うちの働いている学校の学校新聞見てください。

「 にわとり要ります？鶏の欲しい方は、いつでも学校に来て捕まえてください。」

読んでて「なんかいいなぁ。平和だなぁ。ハワイらしいなぁ」と一人笑いしちゃいました。でも子ども達が学校にいる間に来られる際は、まず事務所でサインインしてください。怪しい人だと思われないように。「鶏捕まえにきました」って。

高学年の男の子達は、結構ニワトリ捕まえるの上手なんですよ。ちゃんと野菜の育て方を知っていて、鶏も捕まえられて、魚釣りができて、ココナッツ捕るために登れる。そんな子ども達がいる学校で教えられることを幸せに思います。

January and February were busy months for dance lovers on Maui. There were three well-known dance companies came to Maui Arts & Cultural Center to perform.
On January 17th, I watched Keigwin + Company.

1月と2月はマウイに住んでいるダンス好きにとってはとても忙しい月でしたよ。3つも名の知れたダンスカンパニーがマウイ・アーツ・カルチュラル・センターに公演しに来たのでね。1月17日はケイグウィン・アンド・カンパニー。

On February 7th, I watched Giordano Dance Chicago. They celebrated their 50th year.
2月7日はジョーダーノ・ダンス・シカゴ。彼らは50周年を迎えたそうで。

And I finished teaching the last Izanai Yosakoi class of this season!
The Maui dancers are ready to go!
