I have a non-blood-related niece and a nephew.
They are my dance teacher's kids: Y and S.
I've known them since Y was 9 months old.
Now Y is 9 years old, and S is 3 (almost 4) years old.
I was already living in the same house a month prior to S was born, so S probably thought I came with the house.
I watch them once a week.
I've fed them, bathed them, slept with them, changed diapers, disciplined them, picked them up from schools, and laughed with them.
They call me Nana. S called me so before he could speak, so I became Nana to them. Whenever they see me, they call, "Nana~~!!" and run to me. I don't know how many times my heart was melted by their embrace.
They are truly the apples of my eyes.
I am lucky to have such sweet beings in my life and seeing them grow up closely.
私には血の繋がっていない、姪っ子と甥っ子がいます。
インド舞踊の先生の子ども達です。
お姉ちゃんのYが9ヶ月の頃からの付き合いです。
Yは今9歳。Sは3歳（もうすぐで4歳）。
そして弟のSが生まれる前から、同じ家に住んでいたので、きっとSは私は家と一緒にセットで来る人だと思ったことでしょう。
彼らを週に一度面倒みます。
今までに幾度無く、ご飯を食べさせ、お風呂に入れ、一緒に添い寝をすることもあり、おしめも換えてきましたし、しかるべきときは叱ってきましたし、学校の送り迎えもしましたし、一緒に笑ってきました。
彼らは私のことを「ナナ」と呼びます。Sがまだ話せない頃、私のことを「ナナ」と呼んだのがきっかけで。顔を合わせる度に「ナナ〜〜！」と嬉しそうに駆けつけてくれる姿に何度心を溶かされたことでしょう。
目に入れても痛くないとはこのことです。
こんなにかわいい子たちが私の人生にいてくれること、そして彼らの成長振りを間近で見られることに感謝です。
One day in July, we went to the Pukalani Pool which is ran by County of Maui (free admission).
7月のある日、プカラニにあるマウイ郡の運営するプール(入場無料)に行ってきました。
Y can swim by herself.
S is still afraid of putting his face in the water, but he loves being in water.
お姉ちゃんのYはスイスイ一人で泳げる。
弟のSはまだ顔を水に付けられない。でも水に入るのは好きらしい。

One day during the summer break, Y went to a summer camp, so S and I had a date to the upcountry.
夏休みのある日、Yは学校のサマーキャンプに行ったので、Sと二人でアップカウントリーへデート。
We played at the Rice Park in Kula.
クラにあるライスパークで遊びました。
I had a great morning with my dear S.
愛しのSと楽しい午前中を過ごしました。
At another time, Y's friend joined us.
We went to the Pukalani Pool again and played at this play ground on the way home.
When I saw this, I thought, "Wow, S, when did you become so long?"
今度彼らを面倒見たときには、Yのお友達も参加。
プカラニのプールにまた行って、その帰りに近くにある遊具で遊んでいきました。
この遊具に寝そべっているSを見て、「Sよ、いつの間にこんなに長くなったの？」と思いました。

Y and S have this cool toy called Magna-Tiles.
I even like to play with Magna-Tiles.
(Children can learn different shapes and other mathematical concepts.)
YとSはマグナタイルという面白いおもちゃを持っている。
私でさえ、これで遊ぶのが楽しい。
（色々な形や、他の算数の概念を学ぶことができる。）
When I am with them, I can remember what it was like to be a child.
二人といると童心に戻ることが出来る。
S let me borrow this cool looking car.
I wish I could ride it.
Sがこのかっこいい車をかしてくれた。
実際に乗れたらいいのにな。
This was a full moon we (three of us) saw one evening.
It looked like a whole note on a music sheet.
三人で見上げたある日のお月様。

I took them to the Makawao Hongwanji's Bon Dance Festival.
近所のマカワオ本願寺の盆踊りのお祭りに、二人を連れて行きました。
I thought that this bush being cut in an angle was cute.
この垣根が微妙に斜めに刈られているのが、面白かった。

Someday, they will be bigger than me.
Even then, I hope that we get to hang out like we do now.
Nana will always hold your hands with love.
私たちの影法師。
いつか私よりも大きくなる日が来るんだろうな。
そうなっても、こうやって一緒に色々出来たらいいな。
いつでもナナは、あなたたちの手を愛を込めて繋ぎますよ。
