Lightening, Shooting Stars, and Birthday 稲妻と流れ星と誕生日

On my birthday, as I do every year, I drove up to the top of Haleakala after the sunset.

When I reached the top, there was no one. I felt so happy.

I sat next to Suga's rock.

No wind. No rain. Not too cold. So quiet.... Bravo.

Stormy clouds were hovering over the Big Island.

I could see a spectacular live lightening show from probably the best front seat existed at that time.

Each time a blinding light was released, I could see inside the crater and textures of clouds around me for a second. It was repeated again and again. I was amazed like a little child begging, "Again, again!"

I sat there for about 2 hours under the lightnings and shooting stars, trying to trace the contour of myself and feel what was held inside of it.

No matter what, she has been always there for me.
I am grateful for her - my life-long best friend named Akari.

誕生日に、例年通り、ハレアカラのてっぺんへ行ってきました。

てっぺんに着いたときには、誰もいませんでした。（夜も更けていたのでね。）「やったー、一人だ！」と思いました。

須賀先生の碑（いし）の横に座りました。

風はなく、雨も降っておらず、そんなに寒くなくて、とっても静かで。

ビッグアイランドの方角には雨雲が厚く覆い被さっているのが、何となく見えていました。

またとない素晴らしい雷のショーを、ライブで、きっとそのとき存在した中では一番の特等席であろう場所から見ることができました。

思わず目を覆いたくなるほど眩しい閃光が放たれる度に、火口の中と周りの雲の様子がはっきりと見えました。それが何度も何度も繰り返されました。小さい子がねだるように、「もう一回、もう一回！」と一人静かに興奮して楽しんでおりました。

二時間ほど座っていたでしょうか。
流れ星と稲妻を頼りに、自分という存在の輪郭を確かめるように、その中にあるものを指でなぞるようにして。

何があろうと、いつも一緒にいてくれる彼女に感謝。
そう、あかりという一生のベストフレンドにありがとう。
