Halloween 2013 ハロウィン 2013

On Halloween, I was unfortunately sick, so I did not get to go "trick-or-treating" with the kids like I did last year.

But a week prior to the real Halloween day, there were some Halloween related community events, so I got to go to one of them with the kids. 

ハロウィーンの日には残念ながら風邪をひいて、家でおとなしく寝ていた私。

昨年のように、子ども達と一緒にトリック・オア・トリート（お菓子をくれないといたずらしちゃうよ）に行けなくて残念。

でも、本物のハロウィーンの一週間前くらいから、地元でハロウィン関係のイベントがいくつかあったので、そのうちの一つには行けました。

This year, actually, for the first time in my 12 years of American life, I made my own Halloween costume. I bought pieces of red and green fabric and made one. Can you tell what I was? Well, I was trying to be a strawberry, but people thought I was a tomato, and that was fine, too. I guess I had to put tiny seeds on my skirt to make it look like a strawberry. 今年、実は12年間のアメリカ生活の中、初めて自分でハロウィンの衣裳を作ってみました。赤と緑の布を買ってね。何のつもりだったか分かります？そう、苺だったんです。一応。でも「トマトちゃんね！」と言ってくれる人の方が多かったです。全然トマトでも良かったんですけどね。苺になるには、小さな種をスカートに付けるべきでしたね。

ここに記念写真。手錠に興味のあるかわいいシャチと、あるお巡りさんに助けられた（？）白いジプシー／占い師と、苺になりすましている赤いトマトの一団。（写真は本当に左腕を骨折したので、骨を折ったスケーターの振りをしていたヤジが撮ってくれたもの。）

Everyone was putting lots of effort into details.

みんなよくやるなぁ。

There were DJs to let us dance with ghosts and goblins. 

DJもいて、お化けやゾンビたちと一緒に踊る良い機会でした。

For Halloween, our wonderful PTA made such a cute surprise on each classroom door.
The children loved it.

ハロウィンにちなんで、とても働き者のPTAが学校の一つ一つの教室のドアに、こんなかわいいお化けの装飾をしてくれました。子ども達、喜んでいました。
