Chi's Baby Shower ちひろのベビーシャワー

On September 1st, we had a baby shower for Chihiro. We showered her with love.

This is her 3rd child. She has an authentic motherly presence. It's quite beautiful. 

9月1日に友人のちひろのベビーシャワーがありました。アメリカでは、妊婦さんが出産する前（安定しているときに）に、お祝いと安産を祈る機会を兼ね、お友達（女性だけ）が集まります。愛をシャワーのように浴びせるのです（笑）。

ちーは今回で3人目。もう「お母さん」としての風格がしっかりとあり、そのどっしり感は傍目に見ていても美しい。

Chihiro studied a traditional Okinawan dance and even has a degree to teach others although she doesn't voluntarily tell people. She is also a truly amazing hula dancer. She has even performed at the Merrie Monarch Festival. Again, she wouldn't tell you. And in the recent years, she has been dancing the Izanai Yosakoi dance with me, and it's been really fun.

So, she loves dance and dancing, so we all celebrated her and her new baby with dances. I would not post a photo of every performer on this blog, but there were quite many performers, and they were all good.

ちーは沖縄の伝統的な踊りを本格的に学んだ人。教える資格まで持っているのですよ。本人は自分から言いませんけど。そしてフラの素晴らしい踊り手でもあります。かの有名なマリ・モナークでも踊ったほど。それも自分で言いませんけど。そしてここ何年かはイザナイよさこい踊りも踊ってくれています。

そんな踊りが好きな彼女のために、みんなおもい想いの、お祝いの踊りを踊ってくれました。ここに載せきれないほど沢山の人がすてきな踊りを踊ってくれました。

Chihiro also danced with her big belly. She was glowing with a kind of light that only an organism that holds a new life within can emit. It was divine...

ちひろも大きなお腹と一緒に踊ってくれました。新しい命の宿った生命体にしか出せない光を放ちながら。それはそれは神々しいものでした・・・。

I think it is a wonderful ceremony for women to come together, celebrate a new life that is about to be born, and organize the support system. As an old saying says, "It takes a village to raise a child," children grow because of many loving eyes that watch over them. And they are truly treasures for the community and for the world.

こうやって女性たちが集まり、新しくやってくる生を祝い、お手伝い体制を整えることは、すてきなセレモニーだなと思いました。「子どもを育てるのには村一つが必要だ」という諺の通り、子どもはその家族だけでなく、色々な人にお世話になって大きくなっていきますからね。そして、子どもというのは地域のそして世界の宝だなとつくづく思います。

It was a potluck, so I baked brownie. I buckled it up to make sure that it would not end up on the car floor and thought that this view was cute. 

This party was organized by our friend Fusayo. She did an incredible job!!

ベビーシャワーはポトラック制（持ち寄りパーティー）だったので、私はブラウニーを焼きました。ちゃんとシートベルトをしていきましたよ。その様子がかわいかったので写真をぱちり。

このパーティーをオーガナイズした房代よ、お疲れさん。とてもとても良く出来ました！！
