I woke up early one morning, so I baked corn bread before I left for work. This one was gluten free.

ある朝、早く目が覚めたので仕事の前にコーンブレッドを焼いた。 （これはグルテンフリーのもの。）

I love seeing full blossoms of rainbow shower trees. It reminds me of abundance. 

レインボーシャワーの花が満開であるのを見るのがとても好き。
「豊富」ってこういうことかなと思う。

持っている靴全部。 左からKeanのハイキングシューズ、Nikeのランニングシューズ、Danskoの改まったお仕事用の靴、Birkenstockの毎日履く用の靴、そしてCrocsは海に行くときとか、何か水関係のアクティビティをするとき用のもの。ちょっと色味を足したいところだけど、出来るだけ持ち物を少なくしておきたい派。

The first gift from one of my new students was this cute dolphin. He even made a handmade envelop to put it inside and handed me the envelop without saying anything. How adorable!! 

新しく学校が始まって、初めてもらった生徒からのギフトはこんな可愛いイルカ。男の子、一生懸命何か作ってるなと思ってたら。このイルカの入っていた封筒まで手作りで。無言でくれた。あぁ愛らしい！

My home lunch today. (Veggie soup with lots of spices and quinoa with sesame). Here I go! 

今日のお弁当。（沢山スパイスの入った野菜スープとゴマ入りキンワ。）行ってきまーす。

In August, for some reason, I was waking up between 4:30 and 5 am without an alarm and feeling rested the moment I opened my eyes. One morning, I decided to have a jump start by soaking myself in the ocean. I saw zero car on the way down to Ho`okipa and swam from one end of the beach to the other end and came homy by 7 am, feeling gratitude to be able to witness how the sky woke up.

8月は、何故か朝の4時半から５時の間に自然に目が覚めていた。良く寝たなぁ〜って感じで。ある朝、海にザブンと浸かって１日を始めることに。ホオキパビーチに行く途中、車一台ともすれ違わなかった。そしてビーチの端から端まで泳いで7時にはに家に戻ってきてた。空が目を覚ます様子は美しくて、そんな朝を迎えられることに心から感謝。

I attended my friend, Jenn's baby shower. Celebrating and getting ready to welcome a new life with wonderful friends always give me a peaceful feeling.

友人ジェンのベービーシャワーへ行ってきた。(こちらでは妊婦さんのために出産前にお祝いのパーティーをする習慣がある）。新しい命を迎える準備やそのお祝いを、沢山のすてきな友達としているとピースフルな気持ちになってくる。

Again, I love farmers market. I think I go there weekly not only to get veggies but to soak up the lively energy from the fresh products and people who grow them.

ファーマーズマーケット（朝市）大好き。毎週行くのは野菜を買うためだけではなく、生き生きとしたエネルギーを農作物とそれらを育てた人たちから感じたいがためだと思う。

One August day, I decided to remove the old wax off a surf board. I left it under the sun for a little while, and it got soften and was easy to be removed. I wish that fetter from the past can be removed as easily as this. Well, maybe I should put it under the sun.

ある8月の日、サーフボードのワックスを取ってきれいにしようと思い立った。お日様の下にしばしの間置いておくと、だいぶ柔らかくなってスルスルと取れていく。楽しい。こんな風に過去のしがらみも取れたらいいのにね。お天道様にさらしてみるか。

私はビビンバが大好き。

I attended a memorial service of my colleague's husband who passed away. He belonged to a canoe club, so all the friends from the club went out with their canoes and scattered the ashes. It touched me to see people coming together to honor someone's life in a nature-connected way. After this, when his wife came back to the shore, some whirl winds came about and made a large whirlpool near the shore. Someone shouted, "Look! It's him!" and we cried. It was definitely a goose bump moment.

同僚のご主人が亡くなったので、メモリアルサービスに参加してきた。彼はあるカヌークラブに所属していたので、そのクラブの方達がカヌーで沖まで出て行き、丸を作り、そして遺灰を撒いた。私はみんなで集まり自然と繋がった方法で、こうやって愛（お）しみながら誰かを送り出す風景に感動していた。彼の奥さんが浜辺に戻ってきたとき、どこからともなく風が吹いてきて、波打ち際に大きな渦を作った。誰かが「彼だ！」と叫びみんなで泣いた。それはまさに鳥肌ものだった。

I sometime thing that a rainbow is a bridge that connects between this world and that world.

虹はあの世とこの世を繋ぐ橋のようにも思える。

At the end of August, I had an errand to run in Honolulu, so I flew there. I stayed one night at my friend Chika's. I have known her from high school, and I am so grateful to have her near me although we live on different islands. She got married in 2007 (view the posting here), and she had a baby boy, and the baby used to be like this in 2010 and grew a little more like this in 2011, but he was walking and talking this time and even rolled my luggage for me!

8月の終わりには、ホノルルに行く用事があったので、友達の知佳の家に一泊させてもらった。知佳とは高校一年生のときからの付き合い。同じ島ではないけど、彼女が近くにいることをとても嬉しく思う。知佳は2007年に結婚して（ここにその様子が）、男の子が生まれた。そしてその赤ちゃんは2010年はこんな感じで、2011年にはこんな風に少し大きくなって、そして今年はいっちょまえに歩いてしゃべってた！私の荷物まで運んでくれたし。おばちゃんは感無量やわ！

There is something special about seeing children of my childhood friends. I feel like I have lots of nieces and nephews.

幼少期や中学校、高校から知っている友人の子供に会うのは何だか特別。沢山甥っ子と姪っ子がいるような気がしてくる。

Since I had a couple of extra houes, I drove to the west side of the Oahu. I had never been to that side, so I was curious. I passed Makakilo City and Makaiwa Beach Park. I don't exactly remember where, but I think this was before Kahe Point Beach Park.

数時間、時間があったものでオアフ島の西側へドライブしてみた。そっち方面には行ったことがなかったので。マカキロシティを通り越して、マカイワビーチパークも過ぎた。どこだったか正確には覚えていないけど、これはカへポイントビーチパークの手前だったと思う。

Pondered over various things during this alone time.

色々想った一人の時間。

This sharp looking one accompanied me in this trip. My first Volkswagen. (It was $30 for 24 hours.)

今回の旅のお供はこの方でした。初めてのVWでした。（24時間借りて$30!）
