The Last Day of Japan Visit 日本帰省最後の日

On the last day of this Japan visit, my parents and I went to the Jyoyama Cafe in Matsuyama city (about 15 minutes from my parents' home). It was our first time to go there. I learned about this cafe in a local magazine, and I wanted to check it out because the atmosphere was nice as far as I could tell from the article and the photos.

今回の日本帰省の最後の日に、松山市内にある城山カフェというところへ両親と行ってきました。（家から車で15分ほどのところ。）ある地元の雑誌で見かけていて、いつか行ってみたいなと思っていたのです。その雑誌に載っていた写真の雰囲気に魅かれて。

It was indeed a cute cafe. It used to be an inn, and the owner started to use it as a cafe. The customers go upstairs of a usual house, and there are about 3 cute rooms, and there is even third floor. I loved the feeling of as if I was visiting someone's house instead of a "cafe."

実際に行ってみると、それはそれはかわいいカフェでした。隠れ屋的な。昔は旅館だったようです。それがこのようなカフェになったそうで。普通のおうちの２階へ上がっていくと、小部屋が三つほどあって、好きなお部屋を選んで座れるようになっていました。何と３階もありました。誰かのおうちにおじゃまさせてもらっているような心地よさでした。

Maybe because of its at-home atmosphere, my parents and I could relax and talk about something intimate for all three of us. Their lunch menu was yum, yum, yum, and it was like eating mom's meal. I think that the atmosphere of each cafe contributes to what is possible for us to talk.

そのゆったり感からか、両親と大切なお話も気兼ねなくすることが出来ました。ランチもお母さんのご飯を食べているような、のほほんと食べられるようなご飯でした。カフェの雰囲気によって、話せる話、話しにくい話ってあると思います。

This is a picture of my parents helping me to grade my students' math tests... (math is a subject that you can grade even if you don't speak the language.)

I brought a thick pile of work home with me because I had to make report cards during the winter break. There were just too many, so I hired them :D 

In Japan, we have a saying which is like "Ask those who are standing around even if they are your parents." I followed this saying :) They were so helpful. Thank you, mom and dad!!!

これは私の両親が児童たちの算数のテストの丸付けしてくれているところ。（算数は英語が出来なくても分かるからね。）

５cmほどもあるテストの束を日本に持って帰ってきていました。なんだって冬休み中に通知表を作らなくてはいけなかったから。自分一人ですると時間がとってもかかるので、父と母を一時間ほど雇ったわけです。何て言うのは嘘で、ここは「立っている者は親でも使え」とは言ったものだと思い、ただ働きしてもらいました。誠に誠に有り難かったです。
