今年のクリスマスはマウイで一人でのんびりと過ごしました。

The family who gave me a ride home after the Hana Relay in
September sent me a Christmas gift! What a great surprise that was.
９月にあったハナリレーの後に、ハナから家まで送って
くれた家族から素敵なクリスマスプレゼントが届きました。
何て有り難いんでしょう。

One student gave me this, and inside....
ある生徒がこれをくれました。中には・・・

There were two beautiful shells.
What a gorgeous gift that was.
二つのきれいな貝殻が入っていました。
何てすてきなプレゼントでしょう。

Yup, it looks like winter.
これを見ると冬だねと思う
（マウイのノースショアは冬に波が大きくなるので）

On Christmas day, I woke up at 6 am and went to surf.
Ho`okipa was too big for me, so I went to Paia Bay.

クリスマスの朝は6時に起きてサーフィンにしに行ってきました。
ホオキパビーチの波は私には大き過ぎたので、パイアベイに行ってきました。

And this was the glow in the morning sky at Paia Bay.
After the session, I said, "Thank you, Santa for a very merrily dawn patrol surf session this morning!"
It was really fun.

そしてこれがパイアベイの朝焼け。
「サンタさん、今朝はとても楽しい『日の出サーフセッション』を、ありがとうございました。」っていうほど楽しかったです。

Then I came home to take a long hot bath to warm my body and then updated my blog, and then I  did a practice (Odissi dance) on my own. Last week, I asked myself, "Hey Akari, let's take it easy next week. I know you work so hard all the time, and I think it's great, but you got just relax, chill, and get rejuvenated sometimes." Honestly, I'm not that good at relaxing, so I'm working on it :) And guess what? Today, I basically did my four top favorite things in this whole world - dancing, writing, photographing, and surfing and nothing else (well I cooked, did a laundry, and cleaned the house, but I love doing those house chores)!! I'm proud! And how can this day get any better?

それから家に帰ってきて、熱いお湯につかり冷えた体を温め、ブログを更新し、オディッシィダンスの自己練習をしました。先週自分にこう言っていました。「来週はのんびりしようね。いつも頑張って働いてくれてるけど、来週はただリラックスして充電しようよ。」私は正直なところ、リラックスするのがあまり上手ではありません。なので練習しています。何と今日は、私の好きなことトップ4に入ることしかしませんでした！踊る。書く。撮る。サーフ。（料理と洗濯と家の掃除しましたけど、それらは私の好きな家事なので良いであろう。）自分よ、よく出来ました！これ以上スペシャルな一日ってあるかしら？

Then at night, my friend invited me to a cozy home party. Her house is in Kula (upcountry), so I wore a ski hat (I mean it's not that cold but for fun). I felt a bit more wintery :) I was grateful to wrap up this magical day by spending time with a close friend at her very comfy home.

そして夜は友人に誘われてアットホームなパーティーへ。マウイのクラという高地にお家があるので、ちょっとニット帽被ってみました。ちょっと冬を感じて嬉しいの図。この素晴らしい一日を気の知れた友人と、彼女のとても居心地の良いお家で締めくくらせてもらって有り難かったです。

これは以前教えた生徒の一人がくれたクリスマスツリー。

要らなくなった雑誌を使って作られているんですよ。

すごく良い案じゃないです？

First you fold down the upper right corner like this.
まず右上のコーナーをこんな風に折り下げます。

You fold it down again to the center of the magazine.
そして雑誌の中心に合わせてもう一度折ります。

Lastly, you just fold up the triangle part.
最後に三角の部分を折り上げるだけ。

This was taken when I was stretching my body to have an Odissi practice. When I looked up for a second, I saw this view, and I was caught. Light was just so beautiful. (The red bag happened to be there. No particular message there, but the red was pretty there.)

This world is filled with light and love despite of what it may appear to be.

これは今日オディッシィダンスの自己練習をする前にストレッチをしていて、ある顔を上げた瞬間、この図を見て「捕まって」しまったときのもの。光の具合がとても美しくて。(この赤いバッグはたまたまそこにあったもので、特に意味はありません。でも丁度赤がアクセントになってる。)

この世は光と愛に溢れている。
