The year 2012 is about to end.
My new friend, Alexa and I went to the top of Haleakala on the New Year's Eve.
I wanted to admire the last sunset of this year at my favorite place.
2012年が終ろうとしています。
大晦日には、新しく出来た友人のアレクサと一緒にハレアカラのてっぺんに行ってきました。今年最後のサンセットを世界で一番好きな場所で拝みたかったので。
At the top, I looked back on this year.
My personal highlights of this year were:
- Odissi Ranga Mala (Odissi Dance Debut Ceremony) (in April)
- Turned 30 (in October)
- My parents' Maui visit (in April)
- Big Island trip (in July)
- Taking care of the divorce (throughout the year)
- Izanai Yosakoi Dance classes on Maui (throughout the year)
- Made my first miso (in July)
頂上で今年一年を振り返ってみました。
個人的なハイライトはこんな感じです。

- 30歳になった (10月)
- 両親のマウイ訪問 (4月)
- ハワイ島での思い出 (7月)
- 離婚の手続き (1年を通して)
- イザナイよさこいのクラス (1年を通して)
- 初めての味噌作り(7月)
I am here because of my family, friends, and all people whom I have come to encounter, and also those whom I have never come to encounter but are supporting my life. For instance, a stranger I have seen in the street may have fixed the bridge, so that my mail man could have come to deliver my mails. When I think like that, I feel deep gratitude for everyone and every being in this world. Thank you, thank you.
私がここにこうしていられるのも、家族、友人、そして出会った一人一人の方、そして直接は出会っていないかもしれないけど、私の生活を支えてくれている方々のおかげです。例えば、道で見かけた知らないおじさんが、ある橋を直してくれた人かもしれない。おかげで私の郵便を届けてくれる郵便屋さんがちゃんと橋を渡れたとか。そんな風に考えていったら、この世に存在する皆さんに深い感謝を感じます。ありがとうございます。ありがとう。
As the sun sat, I said, "Thank you, Sun for shining on us throughout the year. May we sublime your light and warmth for greater good that serve all beings."
お日様が沈んでいくのを見ながら言いました。「お日様、この１年私たちを照らしてくださって、ありがとうございました。あなたの光と温かさを、この世に存在する全てのもののために昇華できますように。」
