My new Indian friend, Aparna kindly took me to a beach in Mumbai.

I didn't expect to see one while I am here, so it was a nice surprise although I didn't swim. It was kind of strange to see no one was swimming even though water was warm. Also there were no surf-able waves :) 

As someone who is from Kochi, Japan (where the ocean is right near us) and someone who lives in a place which is surrounded by the ocean (Hawaii), as soon as I saw the sea, I felt something nostalgic. As Aparna, Shilpa and I walked down the beach, I was thinking, "This ocean is connected to the rest of the world..."

インドで新しくできた友人アパーナが、親切に「少しは観光も」と言ってムンバイにあるビーチに連れていってくれました。インドにいる間にビーチに行くことがあるとは思っていなかったので、嬉しいサプライズでした。泳ぎはしませんでしたけど。誰も泳いでいないのが不思議でした。水は温かかったです。サーフィンできるような波はありませんでした。

高知出身の者として、ハワイで海に囲まれて暮らしている者として、海を見た途端に何だかとても懐かしい感じがしました。あぁ、この海は世界と繋がっているのだななんて思いつつ、浜辺をアパーナとシルパと歩きました。

We got there at 7 am.
